With a diverse and dynamic team of clinicians collaborating, we are able to offer a wide range of services under one organization, ensuring you receive the best possible care tailored to your unique needs.
We are pleased to provide a range of therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and adults including individual, family, and group therapy. Beginning at the initial consultation, we collaborate with clients about their treatment goals and plans. With children, therapy may involve some play, while therapy with teens may incorporate games and frank discussion. With clients of all ages, we seek to develop a trusting, authentic relationship in which clients can explore, grow, improve relationships, and make desired life changes.
Examples of Issues Addressed in Therapy:
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan. It is designed to help individuals manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and develop coping skills. DBT is particularly effective for people with borderline personality disorder (BPD) but can also be used to treat other conditions such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse.

Adolescents face struggles that many of us went through when we were teens. In today’s world, however, the influences in their immediate world are very different. That fact may make the usual teen angst more magnified. What do adolescents deal with? Identity struggles, extreme peer pressure, fitting in, the pull towards independence and push for guidance, and decision-making without considering the consequences are a few of them.
We work with issues of anxiety and depression, defiance and power struggles, anger, and lack of respect. Our clients learn to cope with death, abuse, moving, trauma, and illness. Divorce, stepparent issues, blended family problems, and general problem behaviors are all part of many adolescents’ lives and we work with all of these issues.
The goals for teens include learning to set boundaries, replacing negative self-talk with more realistic self-talk, learning good communication skills, controlling their behaviors, and learning to cope without feeling confused or too overwhelmed.
Depending on the problems each teen presents, we like to use a variety of approaches and therapies. We use Cognitive-Behavioral, Family therapy, and Interpersonal therapy.
Psychological assessment refers to scientific methods psychologists often use to understand the human personality. When combined with information from interviews, observations, and other sources, assessments can help clients explore new and more effective ways of resolving human problems. After assessment procedures are completed and the results are obtained, the psychologist typically gives the client feedback about the results.
The purpose is to promote great self-understanding and more ability to help plan appropriate treatment. In this way, psychological assessment can shorten treatment and reduce its cost when compared to treatment based solely on a clinical interview. Psychological assessment can also provide accurate and objective information to help answer questions posed by other health professionals and referring agencies such as school systems, the court, and social agencies.
We conduct psycho-educational, diagnostic, and personality testing for children ages 5 through adult. Psychological testing services can evaluate an individual’s cognitive, academic, social, emotional, and behavioral functioning. It helps understand an individual’s strengths and weaknesses in the above areas, clarifies diagnoses, assists in determining eligibility for educational and mental health services, and helps to guide future treatment.
We offer assessments for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), learning disorders, giftedness, and various developmental, psychiatric, and personality issues. Testing will include a clinical interview, questionnaires, formal testing measures, a review of records, and a substance use screen, as appropriate. After all testing is complete; we will present you with a comprehensive report including our findings and recommendations.
Medication management involves the prescription, administration, and review of medications, along with monitoring their side effects, to help alleviate mental health challenges. This service is provided by a licensed psychiatrist. When combined with therapy, medication management can reduce the severity of negative mental health symptoms. However, psychiatric medications may carry potential risks and side effects, which will be thoroughly discussed before any prescriptions are issued. Not all clients with mental health struggles require medication. If your therapist recommends medication management, or if you believe it may benefit your recovery, we can schedule an informational appointment with our psychiatrist to explore your options.
Forensic assessment is used when a psychologist is hired to answer a specific legal question (i.e. competency, insanity, etc.). Depending on the specific question, the psychologist will conduct a clinical interview, collateral interviews (e.g. with witnesses, family, friends, attorneys, police officers, etc.), review records (i.e. medical, psychological, criminal, school, etc.), administer psychological tests and form an opinion to answer the legal question.
At FPA, we are dedicated to assessing and treating clients with sexual behavior issues, including those who have been molested. While most clients are children and adolescents, adults may also seek our services. A comprehensive assessment is the foundation of effective treatment. This includes a review of case materials, psychological testing, and clinical interviews with the client and their parents or caregivers. Consultations with other professionals may be included when necessary. Once the assessment is complete, we discuss treatment options and develop a plan. For children who have been sexually abused, there is concern about the risk of future misconduct. While these children are more likely to engage in inappropriate sexual behavior, many do not. Proper assessment and timely intervention are key to minimizing this risk.
Couples and relationship therapy focuses on improving communication, resolving conflicts, and strengthening the connection between partners. Whether you're dealing with specific issues or seeking to enhance your relationship overall, therapy provides a supportive environment to explore and address concerns. Through guided sessions, couples can develop healthier interaction patterns, deepen understanding, and work toward mutual goals, fostering a more fulfilling and resilient relationship.
